The history of tobacco


Tobacco's native land is North and South America.Its seed is very small.American Indians began using tobacco in their religious and medicinal practices.Tobacco was believed to relieve pain.
In 1492 American Indians who Christopher Columbus came across give him a present - dried tobacco leaves.Soon after tobacco was brought in Europe and it turn very popular.Why?People believed that tobacco could heal almost everything.In 1571, A Spanish doctor named Nicolas Monardes published a book in which he maintained that tobacco could help with 36 diseases.1588, A Virginian named Thomas Harriet proposed smoking tobacco as way to get one's daily dose of tobacco.It was used as often as money.Nevertheless some people realized damaging affects of smoking.In 1610 Sir Francis Bacon marked that trying to leave off the bad habit was really difficult!
In 1760, Pierre Lorillard started a company in New York City to produce tobacco, cigars, and snuff. Today, P. Lorillard is the oldest tobacco company in the U.S.!
Over the years, more and more scientists comprehended the harm did by smoking.In 1847, the famous Phillip Morris begin to sell hand rolled Turkish cigarettes.Soon cigarettes became the most widespread tobacco product.In 1902 Phillip Morris established the famous Marlboro brand.At the same time subsisted a small but increasing anti-tobacco campaign.In 1913 R.J. Reynolds began to market a cigarette brand called Camel.
The use of cigarettes is biggest during World War 1.Then the competition among companies which produce cigarettes is most bitter.For example,woman's cigarettes were marketed.During World War II (1939-1945) cigarettes were counted in soldier's C-ration.This was a trick - the companies which sent to soldiers cigarettes for free gained in this way devoted customers.At the same time appeared more and more proofs that smoking causes lung cancer.As new,"safer" products were introduced filtered cigarettes.
During 60's of twentieth century advertising of cigarettes begins to be regulated.In recent past years smoking is forbidden in more and more public places.Although people understand damage caused by smoking today this bad habit is still one best way to make money!Isn't it pity?!

The tobacco kills!

Every year smoking causes death of thousands people.1% of smokers think that theirs life will be 20 years shorter. The tobacco causes many diseases.

The tobacco is expensive!

Buying cigarettes or rolling is expensive and it can get into debt people and families. Diseases, caused by smoking bring to huge costs the protection of health.

The tobacco distort!

It decreases taste.

The tobacco destroys the body!

Smoking can bring to difficulties in breathing. It can cause impotence in men and spontaneous abortion in women. Smoking also destroys hair and wrinkles skin.

The tobacco is drug!

Smoking causes addiction, difficult to cope with it. Even first cigarette can be dangerous.

The tobacco causes other addictions!

Addicted to other opiates often begin at first smoking.

The tobacco harms to related of the smoker!

Except irritation tobacco and smokers causes different diseases, which appear immediately or in longer period of time. Especially vulnerable are children.

The tobacco is not up-to-date!

Young people often think that smoking is a kind of revolt against the rules. Today smoking is forbidden in many places and man must hide to light a cigarette. Smokers seem to be selfish and careless.
